Brokerage setup

Brokerage privacy and security

SheetsFinance treats brokerage data and credentials as highly sensitive. The architecture is built so that your data stays with you.

Data classes

  • Brokerage data — Holdings, orders, balances, transactions, and options positions pulled into your spreadsheet.

  • Brokerage credentials — Randomized tokens that authenticate your brokerage account with SheetsFinance.

Security practices

  1. User data belongs to the user. Only you can access your brokerage data. SheetsFinance does not read or use it without your explicit permission.

  2. No long-term brokerage data storage. Brokerage data is not stored in persistent databases. It is held in temporary in-memory caching only while you are actively using it in Google Sheets or Excel.

  3. Encrypted credentials. Brokerage tokens are encrypted, stored securely, and rotated regularly. They are valid only for the server-to-server connection between SheetsFinance and brokerage providers.

  4. Complete disconnection. When you remove a brokerage connection or cancel your subscription, all credentials become invalid. New credentials are generated only if you reconnect.

  5. Read-only access. SheetsFinance can read your brokerage data but cannot execute trades or make account changes.

For more information, see the security documentation of our brokerage connection provider SnapTrade.
