Troubleshooting

Fix Google Sheets permission and connection issues

If SheetsFinance stops working in Google Sheets because of a permission prompt, a rejected connection, or the wrong Google account, reinstall the add-on and reconnect.

Reinstall after missing permissions

Symptom: SheetsFinance functions return errors or the Account modal rejects your connection even though your Connection ID is correct.

Cause: Your Google account has not granted all the permissions the add-on needs to run.

Fix:

  1. In Google Sheets, open Extensions > Add-ons > Manage add-ons.

  2. Find the SheetsFinance card and uninstall it.

  3. Refresh the Google Sheets page.

  4. Reinstall the add-on via Extensions > Add-ons > Get add-ons.

  5. When the Google permissions screen appears, click Select all to grant every requested permission.

  6. Open Extensions > SheetsFinance > Account and connect or paste your Connection ID.

Reconnect under a different Google account

Symptom: You are signed into the wrong Google account or you moved to a new one, so SheetsFinance is tied to the old account.

Fix:

  1. Copy your Connection ID from your Account Dashboard.

  2. In the new Google account, open Extensions > SheetsFinance > Account.

  3. Paste your Connection ID and click Connect.

The latest Google Sheets connection replaces the previous one. Only one Google account can be connected to your SheetsFinance account at a time.

Still seeing issues after reconnecting

If the account banner or settings do not update after reconnecting:

  1. Close and reopen the Account modal from Extensions > SheetsFinance > Account.

  2. If needed, run Extensions > SheetsFinance > Tools > Sync.

Your SheetsFinance account is separate from your Google account. You can install the add-on under any Google account and link it back with your Connection ID.
