Brokerage setup

Connect your brokerage account

Follow these steps to connect a brokerage account to SheetsFinance.

Prerequisites

  • An active brokerage subscription or 15-day free trial

  • Login credentials for the brokerage account you want to connect

Steps

  1. Start your SheetsFinance Brokerage subscription from the Pricing page.

  2. Open your Account Dashboard and go to the Brokerage tab.

  3. Click Connect in the "Create New Connection" section.

  4. Select your institution and enter your login credentials. You may be redirected to the institution's site to finish.

  5. When the connection succeeds, your account appears in the "Connected Brokerage Accounts" list.

After connecting on the website, open Google Sheets or Excel and make sure your spreadsheet environment is linked to the same SheetsFinance account.

Google Sheets

  1. Open Extensions > SheetsFinance > Account.

  2. Check that your brokerage subscription appears in the modal.

  3. If it does not appear, click Sync Account to refresh.

Microsoft Excel

  1. Open the SheetsFinance account view in Excel.

  2. Check that your brokerage subscription appears.

  3. If it does not appear, click the refresh icon or reconnect with your Connection ID.

Enable brokerage in a spreadsheet (Google Sheets only)

  1. Open the Brokerage Sidebar from Extensions > SheetsFinance > Brokerage.

  2. Tick Enable Brokerage for this document.

Only the spreadsheet owner can enable brokerage.

Reconnect a disabled account

Brokerage connections can become disabled when a broker requires fresh authentication. A disabled connection shows a red exclamation mark in the Excel or Google Sheets sidebars.

  1. Go to your Account Dashboard and open the Brokerage tab.

  2. Find the disabled account card and click the red exclamation mark to start the reconnect flow.

  3. Enter your login credentials when prompted. You may be redirected to the institution's site to finish.

When the connection is restored, the account reappears in the "Connected Brokerage Accounts" list without a warning icon.

Start using the function

With your account connected and brokerage enabled, use =SF_BROKERAGE() to pull holdings, orders, balances, transactions, and options positions.
