Brokerage account states
A brokerage connection can be pending, active, disabled, or closed. Use this page to see what each state means and what to do next.
Pending
Pending means the broker is still finishing first-time security and authentication checks. Most brokers connect instantly; a few stay pending before they become active.
This delay is most common the first time you connect an account to that broker through SheetsFinance. Interactive Brokers is a common example. The wait can be up to 24 hours.
Leave the connection as it is and check again later in your Account Dashboard Brokerage tab. Pending is not a failed connection and is not the same as disabled.
If you have not finished connecting yet, follow Connect your brokerage account.
Active
Active means the connection is ready to use. The account appears in the Connected Brokerage Accounts list on the Brokerage tab, without a warning icon.
After the account is active, link your spreadsheet and enable brokerage where required so you can pull data with =SF_BROKERAGE(). See Connect your brokerage account for those steps.
Disabled
Disabled means the broker needs fresh authentication. A disabled connection shows a red exclamation mark in the Excel or Google Sheets sidebars and on the account card.
Reconnect from the Account Dashboard Brokerage tab by clicking the red exclamation mark and entering your login credentials again. You may be redirected to the institution's site to finish.
When the connection is restored, the account returns to the Connected Brokerage Accounts list without a warning icon. Full reconnect steps are in Connect your brokerage account.
Closed
Closed connections are not shown as a separate status. When a connection is closed, it disappears from your connected list.
That happens when you disconnect an account or when canceling your brokerage subscription disconnects linked accounts. Credentials for a removed connection are invalidated.
To remove one account yourself, follow Disconnect a brokerage account. To use the account again later, connect it as a new connection.
