Symbol Search

Supported instruments

SheetsFinance supports over 80,000 global securities across stocks, ETFs, exchange-traded bonds, mutual funds, FOREX, indices, cryptocurrencies, commodities, and options. All data is accessed by entering the correct ticker code into a SheetsFinance function.

Stocks and ETFs

SheetsFinance covers 70 global stock markets. Use the Symbol Search to find the exact ticker and exchange suffix for any stock or ETF. For a full list of supported exchanges and their suffixes, see the Available Markets article.

Options

US options are supported across all US options markets via an official data feed from the Options Pricing Reporting Agency (OPRA). Options data is available through the Options functions, including chains, greeks, historical snapshots, and implied volatility analytics.

FOREX

Foreign exchange rates are supported. All FOREX tickers use the exchange suffix FOREX. Search for the currency pair in Symbol Search to find the correct ticker.

Indices

Market indices are supported. All index tickers use the exchange suffix INDEX. Search for the index name in Symbol Search to find the correct ticker.

Cryptocurrencies

Cryptocurrencies are supported. All crypto tickers use the exchange suffix CRYPTO. Search for the coin or token name in Symbol Search to find the correct ticker.

Commodities

Commodities are supported with the exchange suffix COMMODITY. Search for the commodity name in Symbol Search to find the correct ticker.

Exchange-traded bonds

Exchange-traded bonds are supported. Individual non-exchange-traded bonds that are only tracked by CUSIP are not included in the database.

To find a bond symbol, use the Symbol Search and enter the bond name or a partial keyword. Select the result to copy the ticker, including the exchange suffix. For help reading exchange suffixes, see the Symbol Search exchanges and formats guide.

Mutual funds

Mutual funds are supported in the database, but coverage is strongest for large US fund managers, particularly Vanguard. Smaller or non-US fund houses, including most UK and European fund managers outside of Vanguard, have limited or no coverage. If you rely on a specific fund, check it is available in Symbol Search before building a template around it.

Investment trusts (UK)

UK investment trusts are supported. They trade like ordinary shares on the London Stock Exchange, so they are covered in the same way as stocks. Search for the trust name in Symbol Search to find the correct ticker.

Delisted symbols

Delisted symbols stay in SheetsFinance data until the ticker is adopted by a new company. There is no fixed purge after a set number of years; retention is driven by symbol reuse, not a time-based cleanup.

For example, some delisted companies, such as TWTR, remain available with full history as the symbol has not been reused. Other symbols disappear or become patchy once the symbol is reassigned or fully retired.

How to use any symbol

After you find the correct ticker, enter it into any SheetsFinance function exactly as you would with a stock or ETF symbol. The symbol lookup workflow is the same for every asset class.
